Two careers, one building in common.

Steven Haag is Partner and Co-Founder of Capax Capital. He has spent his career on the operating side of hospitality real estate. He led the launch of Cove, the Brookfield-backed aparthotel brand, modernised SACO, one of Europe’s oldest serviced-apartment businesses, and helped scale Sonder from start-up to its NASDAQ listing. Separately, he personally bought and renovated Islay House into a whisky-focused hotel. He began as a restructuring and insolvency solicitor at Freshfields and Milbank, often on hospitality OpCo/PropCo restructurings, then joined Bain & Company’s private equity practice covering travel, tourism and hospitality. Steven holds a BA and MA from Emory University (summa cum laude), an MSc in Finance and Management from the University of St Andrews (distinction) and a law qualification from BPP. He is American and has lived in London for twenty years with experience across Europe.

Maurice Atallah is Partner and Co-Founder of Capax Capital. His background spans real estate investment, construction and the legal structuring that sits between them. He joined Chalegrove Properties in 2016, where he oversaw the design and construction of the 162-room aparthotel at Landmark Pinnacle, Western Europe’s tallest residential tower, and led its disposal to Brookfield-backed Cove, the brand Steven launched, for £62.5m. He then co-led Chalegrove’s legal department, handling JCT contracts and freehold structuring for the group. He began his career on 3-Beirut, a $200m GDV luxury residential project and Foster + Partners’ first in the region. Maurice holds a BEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the American University of Beirut (distinction), a Masters in Management with a finance focus from London Business School, and an LLM from the University of Law.
